Which language courses?

Conversation language
Conversation language refers to context-bound,
face-to-face communication, like the language
first learned by toddlers and preschoolers,
which is used in everyday interaction.

Academic language
Academic language refers to the abstract, decontextualized
communication that takes place in the classroom. It is
‘the language of learning’, which enables us to problem-solve,

we lack personal experience.
Academic language includes situations such as:
writing a standardized text
demonstrating experiments
listening to a lecture
reading content class

Business language

vocabulary and topics used in the worlds of business,
trade, finance, and international relations. For others,
it refers to the communication skills used in the
workplace and focuses on the language and skills
needed for typical business communication such as:
-

A little bit about me...

You may ask yourself who I am
and what I can offer you.
It’s very simple: languages are one of my passions;
I never get bored when I learn languages. Besides
loving it, I get a lot of opportunities to get to know
other cultures, new people and interesting places.
My wish is to be able to share this interest with you
and my greatest reward is to see you developing
your language skills.
Know more
But you might want to know a little bit more about my experience as a teacher.
So here it goes:
After doing my primary and secondary studies in Sacré-Coeur de Lindthout School in Brussels, I did a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Spanish at Anglia Polytechnic University in Cambridge. After that, I went to Granada in Spain as an Erasmus student to improve my Spanish and took a course of History and Art History at Granada University. I very much liked it and decided to stay for a longer period. I started teaching English and French to children and adults in an academy and after 2 years I enrolled for the DAEFLE and the TEFL course in Granada.
My working experience in Granada expands over 9 years. I had the opportunity to teach different ages (children, teenagers and adults) through a variety of teaching modules: standard classes, preparations to Cambridge exams and Trinity, language courses in companies, and so on. During the summer, I was working as a coordinator in a camp that combined English classes and sport activities for 200 children, aged from 6 to 17 years old. Besides teaching, my task was to recruit, inform and oversee the other teachers and to develop new visual resources that could promote the use of English outside the English activities.
After spending 4 years in Cambridge and 9 years in Granada, I went back to Belgium and sought to increase my experience abroad in my native country. I worked in Brussels for 6 years where I was combining my teaching time between companies, language schools and private students. And after 6 years, my partner who is Slovak and I decided to try our luck in Bratislava. This is when came to me the idea of starting some teaching online. The first reason was that I wanted to keep contact with my students in Brussels and the second was that for a long time I’d been wanted to start my own language school. This was the perfect opportunity to make it happen! So welcome to Af-academie!
I hope with these few lines I’ve been able to inspire you and who knows to even go for a ‘free trial lesson’.
I look forwards to hearing from you,
Aurore Francq.
